London Based Designer Jiaying Wang Unveils “Angel’s Wing”: A Dialogue of Contrast and Love

Picture
London — WJY Studio introduces “Angel’s Wing,” the newest jewellery collection created by Designer Jiaying Wang. The concept originates from a sculpture of an angel standing in Piccadilly Circus— a place where Wang lived for ten years and passed every single day. This quiet, daily encounter became the spark for a design that explores the meaning of love through contrast, symbolism, and craftsmanship.
Diamonds have long represented love, and in creating this collection, Wang sought to re-examine what love truly means. Tracing the footsteps of Cupid in ancient Greek mythology, she found a compelling description: love is a union of desire and conflict. This duality opened a deeper understanding—love is both luminous and complex, tender yet powerful.
A Collection Built on Contrast
Contrast lies at the heart of Angel’s Wing, shaping the collection on three fundamental levels: culture, material, and craft.
Cultural Contrast
The angel motif symbolises the emotional journey of love—the joy it brings, as well as the tension and vulnerability that accompany it. By choosing this familiar Western symbol, Wang bridges mythology, personal memory, and modern emotion.

Material Contrast
In the materials, the East meets the West.
  • Jade, cherished for centuries in Eastern culture, represents spiritual clarity and protection.
  • Diamonds, rooted in Western tradition and Greek mythology, echo the brilliance and longing associated with love.
Together, these two stones create a dialogue of serenity and sparkle, heritage and modernity.

Craftsmanship Contrast
The collection further highlights contrast in technique. Contemporary diamond cutting—precise, radiant, and technologically advanced—is paired with traditional Chinese miniature carving.
The centrepiece jade angels were refined over nine months, shaped entirely by hand. Each delicate curve and contour reflects patience, discipline, and devotion. The fusion of high-precision brilliance and centuries-old craft forms a unique meeting point between two worlds of jewellery culture.

A Reflection on Love
As noted in Cupid’s ancient accounts, “You are the object and the way you love.”
This philosophical reflection serves as the emotional anchor of the collection, inviting wearers to consider love not just as a feeling, but as a way of being.

Angel’s Wing is therefore more than a set of jewellery pieces—it is a meditation on authenticity, contrast, and the quiet strength of emotion. Through the interplay of craft, material, and culture, WJY Studio hopes the collection brings its wearers a deeper, more personal experience of love.
