Cotton Candy is my kinetic rings collection that features chunky rings with mobile nuggets that slide on multiple metal bridges. I love asymmetry and I love including moving elements that react to gravity according to how the jewel is moved by the owner's hand, highlighting their individuality. In my artistic research, I'm trying to make contrasting elements interact by inserting them in the same composition. Full and void, transparency and opaqueness, lights and shadows, smooth and coarse, shiny and matt finish, color contrasts and different textures combine creating a perfect balance. Like in my Cotton Candy rings where irregular beads play with smooth bridges, where silver highlights the gold and where the void parts play an important part too, increasing the depth of the ring.
The name of the ring gets its inspiration from the Cotton Candy man and the circular movement that he makes while spinning the sugar around the stick. Similarly, I make the same movement inserting every single handmade nugget in the metal wire leaving it free to slide on it. In the end, the ring represents a beautiful knot of wires and beads that move freely with air and space.
