Ji Young Kim - Visible time, Invisible pin (2022-2024)
For metals, corrosion is the price of time, and the path to death that is becoming shabby and disappearing. What if there is a corroded object that shows no device at first sight? Is it useless? My question is connected to my life.
Life was a series of losses for me. I now realize that but loss made it possible to fill another. This irony of life I thought Jewelry was very similar. Because Jewelry is the irony itself. This is because the front is equipped with an aesthetic that craves and pursues beauty, but the back must have practicality to hang on to clothes or bodies. The duality of the front and back is also a factor that distinguishes objects from jewelry. Recently, I study the formative form of jewelry, where you can't see a device that can be defined as jewelry at a glance. My work explores the balance and relationship between opposite things or circumstances through material and form.
