A dangerous beauty attacks again
Dana Bezděková, who is often called the queen of Czech jewellery, will present the extended TRIFFID novus collection at Designblok 2022, which completes the TRIFFID collection from last year.
The updated TRIFFID novus collection simulates the desire and the courage to live through the nature.
"I perceive the desire to live even more strongly in the context of the times. That's why I decided to recreate the TRIFFID collection, which deals with the theme of flowers, although fictionals and often dangerous. I insert the small stones into the rings in different variants and variations that refer to important periods of human life," explains the jeweler why she decided to work with the theme of flowers again.
The ring as a reflection of life
The collection consists of four types of rings. The first type has the "embedded in it" stones, merging with its surface. They are the beginning, the "seeds" of a new life that is born every day. On the second type of ring, the seeds germinate. Grow. They gain strength, they change. The third type is an already grown flower, dotted with stones that shine as well as youth. The fourth type closes the circle (the shape of the ring itself) of life and blossoms so that the cycle can repeat. The stones on the rings glitter like a dew on the moss, growing, gaining breath and strength, and completing the cycle by "blossoming". In this way they can continue to sow life.
"In the same way, I perceive the love, which changes over time. It grows almost out of nothing, germinates, intensifies and heads towards the top, where it unfolds in all its beauty and wholeness. So that life can go on. So that new generations can grow up. And repeat the cycle. For this reason, I also perceive the rings as suitable wedding and engagement rings," adds Bezděková.
The earrings from the TRIFFID novus collection resemble the wild flowers in the rainforest, they stretch from the ear like lianas in different lengths, they can be layered in any quantity and their wearers seem to have returned to their indomitable essence. Equally distinctive are the necklaces from the collection, which are their own opposites. The first of them has the sharp edges, at first glance it resembles a flower which a person is afraid to touch. The second necklace is friendlier, rounded and studded with pearls.
"But both necklaces are very comfortable, I suspect that someone may be discouraged at first glance by a pendant with sharp edges, but it does not hurt you and is pleasant to wear," says Bezděková, who likes to layer her jewellery and play with the quantity she wears.
Throughout her career, Bezděková has worked with contrasts. That is why she will present a new collection in the installation, which refers not only to this year's theme of the most important design show in the Czech Republic, but also to two possibilities of human life. To life in the city and life in nature. "The installation A forest of technologies consists of a group of aluminum lianas that grow through the Gabriel Loci building, I perceive and exhibit the jewellery as the fruits of this inorganic jungle," the jeweler explains her intention.
After the Designblok show, you can view the collection in selected galleries or on www.danabezdekova.com.
