About Bilk Gallery
About
Bilk Gallery has been showcasing contemporary glass and metal for over 20 years. Bilk Gallery brings together both the makers and public to create a dialogue and promote the best of young emerging artists as well as established internationally renowned artists.
We aim to give a new value and concept to contemporary metal and glass and satisfy the need for an expression of individuality. The artists are chosen for their individuality of approach, use of materials, recognisable style and commitment to contemporary practice.
"We search for unique pieces that express the designer’s personality and their special artistic language. We pay attention to the originality of the design, the quality of the craftsmanship and materials. Some pieces are difficult to wear and, although we aren’t set on conservative jewellery, we still look for functionality and wearability. An object must be expressive and recognizable, so that we instantly know who made it. The piece must articulate the personality of the artist.”
Bilk Gallery is set up in the private studio of Helen Aitken-Kuhnen and Johannes Kuhnen, 10 minutes outside of Queanbeyan, in a beautiful rural setting.
Exhibitions will be held each year showcasing exceptional contemporary jewellery and objects. Collections of each artists can be viewed on Bilk Gallery’s website.
Directors: Helen Aitken-Kuhnen (Founding Director) and Mio Kuhnen (Co-Director)

About Galeria Alice Floriano
GALERIA ALICE FLORIANO was inaugurated in 2015 in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Its aim is to show and promote contemporary jewellery as an artistic movement and cultural expression. Jewellery designer and gallerist Alice Floriano presents well-established artists as well as emerging talent from a worldwide setting in her gallery, thereby offering space and visibility to those at the start of their careers but with consistent, promising work. Apart from its permanent space in Porto Alegre, the gallery began in 2017/2018 to operate regularly on an itinerant basis in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian cities, and provide increasing opportunities for the public to access extraordinary wearable art, which is still little known in Brazil. The gallery now represents nearly fifty artist jewellers and regularly selects new names to include in its catalogue. In 2019, the gallery took part in the first Milan Jewellery Week. Throughout 2020, it has remained very active with its social and educational programmes and its participation in the Athens Jewellery Week.

Mission statement
« The Direktorenhaus is an exhibition venue for craftsmen, artists and designers in Berlin. The program represents the current debate on new trends of the applied arts and illustrates the potential, which the connection of handicraft, art and design has to offer. The Direktorenhaus is the former administrative building of Alte Münze. The atmospherical exhibition venue, directly located at the river Spree with high ceiling reception areas and French balconies is a site of concentrated production. Each year, 15 fellows from the areas of design, fine arts, craft, social design and composition work at the Direktorenhaus. The Direktorenhaus offers them the possibility to focus on the further development of their work for one year. Besides the exhibit rooms, ateliers, workplaces and studios are to be found on the various floors of the building. Most notably, the exhibitions give access to an aesthetic quality of things, which is rarely presented to the public nowadays. Also, their political relevance becomes clear: more and more design projects of the Direktorenhaus shift focus from „form and function“ to methods for the solution of strategic issues in economy and society, and the development of future scenarios. While there already is a historically established tradition of support in the fine arts, for example through cultural foundations which support fine artists, there is no promotion of excellence for designers and craftspeople in Germany. The Direktorenhaus was founded in 2010 by Pascal Johanssen and Katja Kleiss in order to close these gaps and to contribute to the future organisation of the networked society.

mission statement
The Gallery of Art in Legnica
As a Gallery of Modern Art we present different fields of art including painting, sculpture, performance and contemporary jewellery. Every year in May we organize Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER. It is our biggest event with over 40 years of tradition. First exhibitions of art jewelry in Legnica took place in late 1970s. Our mission is to present, promote and collect contemporary jewellery in its various ways of manifestations: from goldsmithing to the jewellery carrying on an artistic or socio-critical message.
Legnica Jewellery Festival SILVER features numerous individual and collective exhibitions. Within the exhibition series About the Artists, Silver Schools and Debuts, we present both well-known artists with a rich artistic output and students of art colleges studying jewellery design and creation. Among the artists who presented their works in Legnica are Karol Weisslechner, Jarosław Westermark, Norman Cherry, Ramón Puig Cuyàs, Georg Dobler, Herman Hermsen, Ruudt Peters, Tabea Reulecke, Paweł Kaczyński, Jorge Manilla, Felieke van der Leest, Mari Ishikawa, Philip Sajet, Herman Hermsen, Małgorzata Kalińska, Sława Tchórzewska and Sara Gackowska. Each edition of SILVER is accompanied by numerous publications documenting the development and most important phenomena in the field of art jewellery.
The most important part of the Festival is International Jewellery Competition. Each year the competition is held under a different title referring to important, universal problems and issues from the spheres of broadly understood art, culture, sociology or media. In previous years, they were, among others: Illusion, Identity, City, Revolt, Sexy, Ritual. The current theme of the 29. International Jewellery Competition is “Still Human?”. Each year the jury selects the works and awards prizes from among several hundred works sent by artists from several dozen countries around the world.
Every year in May – during the culmination of Legnica SILVER Festival – numerous meetings with artists, vernissages and a theoretical seminar entitled „The Boundaries of Global Art” take place, exploring the currently presented exhibitions and touching upon issues related to contemporary jewellery, art and design.
International Collection of Contemporary Jewellery from the Gallery of Art in Legnica
In 2004 – after 25 years of "silver" shows – The Gallery of Art in Legnica decided to organize its achievements in the field of promotion of contemporary jewellery and started building a permanent collection. Currently, the Collection consists of about half a thousand works, which makes it one of the largest international collections of contemporary artistic jewelry in Europe.
It consists of objects of the latest art, their vast majority of created in the 21st century. To a large extent, these are works that have been awarded in the Legnica International Jewellery Competition – the main event of Legnica SILVER Festival – as well as objects presented at accompanying exhibitions. The Collection includes works by artists from various parts of the world, showing a wide range of possibilities of using body decoration to create a work of art. The collection consists of examples of contemporary, unique jewellery as well as design objects and installations with the function of jewellery by the best Polish and foreign designers.
Legnica Collection bears witness to the wealth of contexts, techniques, materials and ways of thinking about jewellery – from speculation on the traditional understanding of ornamentation, through the medium of content, used to manifest the artist's views, to the work of conceptual art, in which the physical object serves only the function of conveying an idea. The Collection shows therefore the evolution of the concept of jewellery: from pure ornamentation to the medium of specific content and value of social importance. It is organized according to two systems: chronological and problematic.
Legnica's shows have been repeatedly devoted to current social or philosophical and aesthetic problems, generating surprisingly original, fresh, up-to-date and innovative works. In this respect, the Collection and the way it is organized may turn out to be an original and unique

mission
Cluster - stars held together by mutual gravitation, uniting luminosity to intensify their collective visibility. Cluster - an aggregation of organic material, densely structured with protective properties. Cluster - atoms of a single element bonded into a molecule, amplifying properties and potential. Cluster - when artists gather, building strength from numbers, exchanging knowledge, trading inspiration, a tight-knit network of energy. Cluster is a unique and alternative experience for both our artists and guests.
Evidenced in Cluster Crafts 2020/2021 strategy, Cluster took an approach due to the pandemic to focus on the digital realm. Cluster’s ethos centres on the vision of connectivity, networking and community, and whilst physical events across the events industry either postponed or cancelled, Cluster took the approach digitally to provide further opportunities for our members to enhance connectivity amongst artists through mentoring/ zoom sessions, a digital space for online sales and physical publication presenting each members work.
Cluster Jewellery first took place in East London’s finest, Old Truman Brewery in 2019 as London’s first fair dedicated to contemporary jewellery. Clusters intention to be the driving force for emerging contemporary jewellers, providing a platform for their work across unique locations to create a new and emerging jewellery scene. Through adaptation during the pandemic, our new digital strategy was born, approaching the initial gallery approach in a unique way with connectivity and diversity at the heart.
Cluster Jewellery 2021 now looks towards exciting collaborations with Precious Collective and Lost in Jewellery Magazine working on the development of the medium and further provide opportunities for contemporary jewellers and elevating the medium to a wider audience.

mission statement
AJF'S MISSION
Art Jewelry Forum (AJF) is a nonprofit organization, for 23 years AJF has advocated for the international field of contemporary art jewelry through education, discourse, appreciation, and support for the field.
AJF actively advocates for the international field of contemporary art jewelry and the talented artists who create it. We publish dynamic original content from the field’s most fascinating voices to inform, educate, and encourage critical thinking and intelligent discourse. We aim to stimulate the marketplace and increase the knowledge of consumers, artists, curators, and gallerists through organized events and informative articles, interviews, and opinions in our online magazine. We also provide financial support to artists, speakers, and writers in the form of grants and payment for commissioned articles. Above all, our goal is to give visibility and value to contemporary jewelry.
ABOUT
Art Jewelry Forum is a nonprofit organization focused on advocating for the field. Our activities are guided by a fifteen person all-volunteer board of passionate art jewelry advocates, led by Raïssa Bump, and implemented by executive director Yvonne Montoya, assisted by a small army of volunteers and interns. AJF is a small organization that does a lot, including publishing articles, interviews, and reviews on our open access website; funding and managing grants and awards to recognize creativity and innovation; and creating connections in the field through educational trips, events, and lectures.
AJF LIVE TALK
Studio visits are a favorite event among AJF members. Who isn’t intrigued by peeking behind the curtain? As more of us are now settling into “shelter in place” mode, AJF would still like to continue its tradition of bringing you up-close and personal with visits to artists’ studios and the jewelry we love. We can do it together, virtually—and we’re opening it up to members and nonmembers alike! In the coming months, AJF will try to engage with you in new and different ways virtually so we can stay connected and feed our collective passion for jewelry.

School's Statement
Pforzheim has a long history in jewellery production and watchmaking and this school is the oldest vocational college founded in 1768. Following this tradition our focus is a profound training in techniques and skills of goldsmithing and watchmaking. With 19 well equipped workshop areas the students are spending most of their times at the bench or in studios for special techniques like engraving, enamelling, stone setting, stone cutting or silversmithing. Our working language is german and the B2 level is demanded. There is no school fee.
We have several departements from a basic apprenticeship to further education:
Berufsfachschule für Goldschmiede"
2 years fulltime courses for goldsmiths plus 1,5 years practical experience in the industry or in craft business leads to the german degree "Goldschmiedegeselle"
@berusfachschule.schmuck.pforzheim

school's programme
On our programme, we seek to understand the world through materials. Jewellery and metal both play a significant role in all cultures. The growing importance and interdisciplinary character of our distinctive discipline within the arts gives jewellery and metal a special vibrancy and relevance. The work that emerges from our programme reflects an expanded practice that views objects as an embodiment of thought. We seek to question what materials mean to us, how we engage with them and use them to define our daily interactions with the world. As a programme and philosophy we are responsive to rapidly changing social and cultural landscapes, and we draw on history and technology in nurturing intellectual and creative skills. The rich and extensive bodies of knowledge associated with object-making and jewellery underpin an approach that is outward-looking, open to the wider and diverse discourses surrounding materialism, semiotics, narratives and commodity objects, all of which connect us and the object to contemporary life. Our School's Mission and Statement
School's Statement: The Alice Gottesman Jewelry Design Department at Shenkar was established with an innovative vision and objective: to bridge the gap between art and industry. We believe that design is a language, which our students have to master, from its most basic structures to its most refined conceptual expressions.
At the same time, we are obligated to provide our students with a firm understanding of the industry’s operation, mass-production methods, marketing and skills in classic metalworking, as well as in advanced technologies in this field.
We believe that the contradictory terms “art” and “industry” are not mutually exclusive. Strategies of mass production and replication play a significant role in art, and the line between commercial art and “higher” art is blurry at best, and may even be hard to define
