Find Out more on CLUSTER project
Cluster Jewellery is a contemporary platform supporting emerging artists taking an alternative approach to exhibition format. For 2021 we are taking a shift to the digital realm and are reaching out to our network to provide our community of artists with an engaging and topical talks programme from members in the industry.
Cluster- stars held together by mutual gravitation, uniting luminosity to intensify their collective visibility. Cluster - an aggregation of organic material, densely structured with protective properties. Cluster - atoms of a single element bonded into a molecule, amplifying properties and potential. Cluster - when artists gather, building strength from numbers, exchanging knowledge, trading inspiration, a tight-knit network of energy. Cluster is a unique and alternative experience for both our artists and guests.Evidenced in Cluster Crafts 2020/2021 strategy, Cluster took an approach due to the pandemic to focus on the digital realm. Cluster’s ethos centres on the vision of connectivity, networking and community, and whilst physical events across the events industry either postponed or cancelled, Cluster took the approach digitally to provide further opportunities for our members to enhance connectivity amongst artists through mentoring/ zoom sessions, a digital space for online sales and physical publication presenting each members work. Cluster Jewellery first took place in East London’s finest, Old Truman Brewery in 2019 as London’s first fair dedicated to contemporary jewellery. Clusters intention to be the driving force for emerging contemporary jewellers, providing a platform for their work across unique locations to create a new and emerging jewellery scene. Through adaptation during the pandemic, our new digital strategy was born, approaching the initial gallery approach in a unique way with connectivity and diversity at the heart.
Cluster Jewellery 2021 now looks towards exciting collaborations with Precious Collective and Lost in Jewellery Magazine working on the development of the medium and further provide opportunities for contemporary jewellers and elevating the medium to a wider audience.

CLUSTER 3rd Contemporary Jewellery Fair 8/11 December 2022 in London

Excited to share our 3rd Contemporary Jewellery Fair, coming this winter.
The fair will showcase the freshest and most forward thinking young designers.
Jewellery has historically been adopted as a symbol of power by both political and religious elites; think of the precious jewels of the Vatican, originally commissioned for the Pope Pius IVV by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804 in exchange for his attendance at his own self-coronation. There are many such examples throughout history where jewels were used as
expressions of hierarchy, instead of representing unity and equality.
This year’s Cluster Contemporary Jewellery fair, entitled “Sentient” continues with the mission of previous fairs to support and showcase the work of experimental jewellery makers, delving even deeper into materiality and concept. The fair’s mission is to abolish the still persisting association with jewellery as a token of exclusivity, luxury and assertion of power. Instead, we want to embrace another, much deeper and more authentic purpose of jewels and other bodily adornments as spiritual talismans that connect the individual to their community and to a higher knowledge.
These tokenistic objects were often humble, found objects with a profound and meaningful personal connection to the individual wearing them on their body, used as powerful spiritual conduits allowing access to a higher Self and elevating the single mind into the collective. It’s closely related to the movement of animism, which believes that everything on this earth, including people, animals and even nonanimate objects carry a distinct spiritual essence. Instead of focusing on some external divine power, it celebrates the intrinsic essence already living within everything that exists, believing in the ability to channel it through talismans. A crucial aspect of animism is that unlike other forms of religion, it rejects the notion of strict hierarchies and assigns agency and spirit to all living and nonliving things.
